Here Comes the Indian $12.99 Animal Collective: Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist, Deacon .Informed in equal parts by acid-fried psychosis, crop-circle field recordings, and an elephants-on-the-loose circus thrash aesthetic, Animal Collective's fourth full-length album rests roughly at the meeting point between psychedelic, noise, and folk music. Here Comes the Indian begins gently enough with "Native Belle," a moody set piece that belies the album's clatter with 12 minutes of constrained rhythmic builds, drones, and squeaks. Things quickly explode with the searing "Hey Light," a lightning bolt of electrocuted brass and human wails that sends the album careening into psychoactive delirium. Since everything that follows -- from the shrieking brattle of "Two Sails on a Sound" to the enchanted tribal vocal exercises of "Slippi" to the slow-building celebratory scuttle of "Too Soon" -- feels similarly crazed, drug-induced, and apparitional, Here Comes the Indian makes for particularly lucid listening. Godmonster of Indian Flats - Special $8.99 Virginia City, NV, is home to the Comstock Lode, a mine that struck big in the latter half of the 19th century. One hundred years later and the city looks very much the same, thanks to the efforts of Mayor Charles Silverdale (Stuart Lancaster), who has bought up most of the property and restored the town to its historical state. When a representative for an Eastern mining concern (Christopher Brooks) comes around trying to buy up shares in the Comstock, Silverdale and his henchmen must go to some extreme lengths to discredit him, framing him as a dog-killer and even attempting a secret lynching. Meanwhile, anthropology professor Dr. Cyrus Clemens (Kerrigan E. Prescott) and a local sheep rancher named Eddie (Richard Marion) have made an astonishing discovery: One of Eddie's flock has given birth to a mutated embryo that could prove a cellular realignment theory that the doctor has been working on in his secret laboratory. The creature grows quickly, reaching eight feet tall within a week, and breaks loose when the lynch party, seeking their escaped victim, lobs tear gas through the windows of the lab. Martial law is declared, and both Clemens and Silverdale are eager to capture the monster alive, though their motives are very different. The professor is sure that further study of the animal can unlock the secrets to existence, while the mayor simply wants to put the creature on display and charge admission. Her ex-husband, Fritz Lang directs this routine, outdated drama about an exotic dancer named Seetha (Debra Paget) who is hired by Chandra (Walther Reyer), an Indian maharaja. Chandra is having problems keeping his domain in order and his subjects are on the verge of rebellion. To make matters worse, Seetha is not interested in him but in Harald Berger (Paul Hubschmid), an architect. Harald is there to construct colonial-style architecture, but between the rebellious peasants and the Maharaja, he and Seetha have dim prospects for a future here. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi The Indian Tomb This unrealistic, routine drama is the second half of a story that began with Der Tiger von Eschnapur. This sequel was later cut slightly, combined with the first story then released in English as Journey to the Lost City. Both halves were written by Thea von Harbou and the 1959 films are both directed by Fritz Lang, von Harbou's former husband. In this continuation, Seetha (Debra Paget) and the architect Harald (Paul Hubschmid) have fallen in love. The biggest stumbling block to their romance is Chandra, the Maharaja of Eshnapur (Walther Reyer). He wants Seetha for himself. Because of that, the lovers fled from Eshnapur and are now being hunted by the Maharaja's henchmen.
